Indoor gardens for workplace wellness

It is well known that plants have huge benefits in the workplace, from the humble spider plant on the desk to the larger ferns and palms that make us feel connected to nature. They help to reduce stress, improve wellbeing and increase productivity. They also help to improve the air quality, and they look pretty and make any workspace look better.

If you have a communal area adding a wall of plants can improve the morale of staff, reducing sick days and illnesses.

More and more interior designers are incorporating greenery into their designs and green walls are a staple of many corporate offices in 2021.

In 2018 we had the pleasure of working at the iconic Walkie Talkie building in London to create the highest public indoor garden. Our expertise and experience in horticultural LEDs were used to ensure the perfect conditions were in place for the plants, allowing for growth and sustainability.

The system and fittings were all designed in-house to ensure the correct levels of lighting, humidity and heat were achieved. They were built by one of our trusted partners in the UK, and we were able to meet the clients’ specifications and keep within budget. We then installed the system, working after hours to keep disruption to a minimum.

Outdoor green walls are also on the increase due to their environmental impact. They help improve air quality and generally make people happier and more relaxed, as well as encouraging wildlife.

The uses of indoor gardens aren’t limited to workplaces or as beautiful things to look at, they can also be used for more practical purposes. Imagine visiting your favourite restaurant and being able to select your own salad? You will notice the taste is better, and the carbon footprint is zero, so great for the environment. The sound-absorbing qualities will also make your dining experience more pleasurable by reducing background noise.
