It seems that the UK, in a bid to become more green, is starting to make the move towards electric vehicles in much larger numbers than anticipated. There has been a massive rise in the availability of EV charging points across the country, in supermarket car parks, public car parks, and in workplaces, which makes owning an electric car much more practical.

Despite signs that the UK car market was showing signs of recovery, the number of new cars registered were down almost 30% by the end of 2020 – just over 680,000 fewer cars than the previous year.

Diesel-car registrations fell by a massive 55% in 2020 and petrol-car registrations dropped by 39%. There has however been an increase of mild-hybrid registrations, MHEV diesel sales increased by almost 80%, while petrol mild-hybrid variants saw an increase of a huge 184%.

In November 2021 the UK saw a 110% increase in pure-electric car sales compared to November 2020. Plug-in vehicle uptake has grown so rapidly that it is thought more will hit Britain’s roads in 2021 than during the ten years from 2010 to 2019.

The government is still offering grants to businesses and homes to assist with the installation of EV charging points, you can find out more information on the gov.uk website here

There are many different options available, at different costs depending on the output, so make sure you do your research first or speak to a reputable installer like Lightouch Solutions.
